Trendsetter Group Ltd

Summary

Trendsetter Group is a small building company in Uxbridge, London, with a number of the same contractors and employees as the insolvent Atomic Build Ltd, including the former director of Atomic Build. A former client took Atomic Build Ltd to court for the faulty work they were left with after a renovation and extension project (see details). Atomic Build Ltd did not present a defence in court, and the client obtained a county court judgement against the company. However, a few days before the court case in April 2023, Nikesh (Nik) Gudka (pictured here on their former website archive), the founder and director of Atomic Build Ltd, had filed for their insolvency.

One of Atomic Build Ltd's final reviews on Checkatrade directly referred to Trendsetter as the company performing the work, rather than Atomic Build (Checkatrade profile no longer online, but available as PDF or in the web archive). So a client of Atomic Build Ltd and/or Trendsetter Group Ltd was confused about which of the two companies had completed the work for them.

Trendsetter Group Ltd had its own Checkatrade profile until June 2023 (profile no longer online, but available as PDF or in the web archive). Checkatrade's rules prohibit directors and associates of banned companies from working for any other companies on Checkatrade.

Trendsetter Group Ltd briefly had a profile on the Rated People website (see the web archive in January 2024 when they were listed as "New to Rated People"). That profile is no longer online (as shown on the web archive since February 2024) since Rated People were shown the close relation between Trendsetter Group Ltd and the insolvent Atomic Build Ltd.

Directors Identity

The director of Trendsetter Group Ltd, as listed on their Companies House page (as of December 2023) is Kirils Grube (sometimes Kiril Grube). Kiril has a couple of profiles online, on LinkedIn and Engineers Without Borders UK (where he is pictured). His most recent job role on LinkedIn (as of December 2023) is with SYSTRA Ltd in Birkenhead, Merseyside.

A photo of a person named Alexey Datsyuk from an old version of Atomic Build Ltd's website (no longer online, but available through the Wayback Machine web archive) shows a striking resemblance to Kiril Grube's profile photo on Engineers Without Borders (also available through the Wayback Machine web archive). A comparison of these photos using an online facial similarity tool gives a 97% likelihood that they are the same person.

Kirils Grube (sometimes Kiril Grube) is the official director of Trendsetter Group Ltd (as of December 2023), but Nikesh Gudka (sometimes Nik Gudka) is named as the point of contact or profile creator on many online listings for Trendsetter Group Ltd (Table 1). Some of these profiles show a published date in early March 2023, over 6 weeks before Atomic Build Ltd went into liquidation. A number of the profile listings were changed in June 2023 to either remove names, or to refer to Kirils Grube instead of Nikesh, but PDF or web archive versions of these pages show how they were originally created.

Planning Applications

Trendsetter Group Ltd have submitted at least one planning application since their incorporation (Table 2). For this planning application Kirils Grube was listed as the agent, and the "drawn by" and "checked by" initials on the drawings are "EU" and "NG" respectively - the same initials as on the majority of Atomic Build Ltd's planning applications.
